Guided events are available for the casual hiker as well. The only requirement is that you are physically fit enough to do the walk and stay apace with your group.

Take on the Lake’s most famous peaks: Matterdale, Helvellyn, Striding Edge & Swirral Edge
The Lake District is famous for its breath-taking scenery and challenging mountain climbs. Whether you have always longed to experience this most beautiful part of the world, or whether you are well-acquainted with the Lakes and are simply seeking a challenge, Orange John’s guided tours will provide you with memories to last a lifetime.
Current guided tours include a route around Matterdale, a no-ridge climb up Helvellyn, and a hike that takes you along Striding Edge and Swirral Edge.
Matterdale
This wonderful route gives you the unique opportunity to take in views of Ullswater, Helvellyn, Thirlmere, Skiddaw and Blencathra. Plenty of opportunities for rest and an experience you will never forget.
Helvellyn
Helvellyn is England’s third-highest mountain. We start in Glenridding, taking in 5 summits during this 6-7 hour circular route. The route is challenging, so a good level of fitness is required.
10/11 Miles, 6-7 hours, 1:10 guide ratio. Available for £35BBX
Striding Edge & Swirral Edge
Are you ready to conquer the infamous Striding Edge? Our guides will help you take on this ultimate challenge.
We will traverse Striding Edge and descend Swirral Edge. We may even take on Catsycam, time allowing.

National Three Peaks Challenge
Take on the iconic National Three Peaks Challenge. Complete the highest mountain Scotland, England and Wales has to offer in 24 hours!
Participate solo, in a pair or as a group everyone is welcome. You will hike between 23 and 25 mile depending on the route we choose and ascend just over 10,000ft!
It’s a 3 day event; first day travelling to the maiden points, starting the actual trip on the second day and finishing on the third day.
£400BBX for the ultimate challenge to hike all three peaks; Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, Snowdon

What we provide on the Three Peaks Challenge
Fully qualified and insured mountain guide, with outdoor first aid certificate at a ratio of 1:10
Mini-bus travel between mountains
Goody Bag, provided for all who complete the challenge
Please note the following are not provided in the trip and ensure you take care of these before the trip starts:
– Travel to Glasgow train station
– Travel from Chester train station
– Personal insurance (we can suggest providers)
– Friday evening meal
– Food, snacks, drinks once event starts
– Equipment
Included in your challenge is if required pick up from Glasgow train station to our overnight accommodation if you wish where we have 5 rooms booked and will be shared on a same sex basis unless you are a group and comfortable sharing. Dinner is down to you to sort out. We will have an event brief and explain and check kit etc.
Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge
Take on the iconic Yorkshire Three Peaks and see the beautiful Yorkshire Dales while summiting the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough on a 24-mile route.
A ratio of 1 guide per 10 participants will look after you while you take on this challenge either solo, in a pair or as a group. The challenge will take 12 hours or fewer, and can be done for charity, as a corporate day-out, or just for the fun of the outdoors and the ability to say, “I completed it!”
Complete the Yorkshire Three Peaks in under 10 hours and receive a % of your fee back! That’s correct for every full 15 minutes you knock off the 10 hours, you get money back.

The event will start at 7 am with a 6:30am meeting time
It is 24 miles with three peaks to the summit, so training is advised
Your guide will have the final say in participation
A goodie bag is provided for all those who finish
We will have a safety vehicle, which will meet in two locations where you can replenish water/hydration and grab a snack. Or, if you need to stop the challenge, we can take you back to the start.
