Measure, Reduce and Offset Your Carbon Footprint
Helping UK businesses achieve credible carbon neutrality through measurement, reduction and verified offsetting.
What Does Carbon Neutral Mean Today?
Carbon neutrality means your organisation has measured its greenhouse gas emissions, reduced them wherever possible, and offset any remaining emissions using verified carbon credits.
We follow the principles of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and the new international standard ISO 14068-1:2023 (which replaces the older PAS 2060 framework).
BBX supports you through this process from measurement to verified offsetting.
Understanding Your Emissions: Scope 1, 2 & 3
Scope 1 – Direct Emissions
These are emissions from sources that your business owns or controls. Examples include company vehicles, on-site fuel combustion and gas boilers.
Scope 2 – Energy Emissions
These are indirect emissions from purchased energy, such as electricity used in offices or purchased heating and cooling.
Scope 3 – Value Chain Emissions
These are all other indirect emissions across your supply chain. Examples include purchased goods and services, business travel, waste and customer use and disposal. Scope 3 is often the largest part of a company’s footprint.
Start Your Carbon Footprint Calculation
Complete our online Carbon Data Request Form to begin your assessment.
You will need to provide 12 months of data covering energy, transport, waste, water and other relevant activities.
Important Notes:
- Select a 12-month measurement period.
- Provide data for the full period.
- Sections 1–6 are mandatory.
- Sections 7–10 are required unless they represent less than 5% of total emissions.
- If your head office is in the UK or US, use miles; otherwise use kilometres.
Once submitted, we will calculate your footprint with our specialist partners and send your results, typically within up to 2 weeks.
Reduce What You Can – Offset What You Can’t
After calculating your footprint, we help you identify practical, cost-effective reduction opportunities. These may include:
- Upgrading to energy-efficient lighting
- Installing solar or renewable technologies
- Optimising travel and logistics
- Reducing waste and improving recycling processes
Any emissions that cannot be eliminated can be offset using verified carbon credits. This ensures your remaining footprint is balanced through certified emissions reductions.
Verified, High-Integrity Carbon Credits
Through our partnership with CTX (Carbon Trade Exchange), we provide access to carbon credits issued by globally recognised registries and standards, including:
- Verified Carbon Standard (VCS – Verra)
- Gold Standard
- UNFCCC mechanisms
- Global Carbon Registry (GCR)
- Universal Carbon Registry (UCR)
- BioCarbon Standard
All credits are independently verified and transparently sourced. Once purchased, credits are retired on your behalf and you receive proof of retirement from the relevant registry.
Fund Your Offsets Using Cash, Trade Credits or Spare Capacity
BBX offers flexible payment options for offsetting. You can fund your carbon credits using cash, digital trade credits, unsold inventory or spare capacity. This enables businesses to reduce their carbon footprint while improving operational efficiency.
What Does 100 Tonnes of CO₂e Look Like?
Equivalent to **40 return flights** between London and New York
Equivalent to the electricity use of **13 medium-sized homes** for one year
Equivalent to **250,000 miles** driven in a 30 mpg petrol car
A 20-bedroom hotel typically produces around 260 tonnes per year.
Restaurants produce between 2–5 kg CO₂e per cover.
Why Businesses Choose to Become Carbon Neutral
- Stand out in tenders and procurement
