For more than 25 years, Children’s Hospice South West has been caring for children with life-limiting conditions by providing children’s hospice and professional family support services. We are dedicated to making the most of short and precious lives through the provision of the best possible hospice care for children and young people who are not expected to survive into adulthood.
Our three hospices across the South West support more than 550 children and their families: Little Bridge House in Devon, Little Harbour in Cornwall and Charlton Farm in North Somerset. We provide specialist palliative care, respite for the whole family, a sibling service for brothers and sisters, emergency support, end of life care and a bereavement service for as long as is needed. The care offered at each of our hospices is not just about medical and nursing support for sick children but enriching the lives of the children and their whole family.
The families we support tell us it’s the little things that make a big difference: being able to sleep through the night knowing their child is being well cared for, enjoying mealtimes together as a family, spending time together and creating precious memories. As one mum said,
“Stepping away from the day to day duties of care is simply bliss. Being able to be Mum and Dad again is the best gift ever, and we are so grateful.”
It costs around £11 million to keep our hospices open, and we rely almost entirely on the support and generosity of our local communities. With your help, we really can make a difference in the lives of local families facing an uncertain future.
