The Titanic was a British passenger liner operated by the White Star Line and is remembered as one of the most iconic maritime tragedies in history. Hailed as “unsinkable” due to its advanced design, it was the largest and most luxurious ship of its time, representing the height of Edwardian innovation.

Departing Southampton on 10 April 1912 for its maiden voyage to New York, the Titanic struck an iceberg late on 14 April in the North Atlantic. The collision ruptured several of its watertight compartments, and within just over two hours, the ship sank. Over 1,500 lives were lost, largely due to a shortage of lifeboats and the freezing temperatures.

Coins minted in 1912, under the reign of King George V, serve as poignant artefacts of this era. Struck during the very year of the Titanic’s ill-fated journey, these coins are more than historical currency—they are powerful reminders of a time marked by both grandeur and tragedy, making them highly sought-after by collectors.
