“We support blind and partially sighted people in Dorset to live happy lives.”
We are all about people:
We can offer personalised practical and emotional support for anyone with sight or hearing loss in Dorset who needs it, for as long as it’s needed. You can find our services right across the county and if you can’t come to us we can come to you.
Sight loss should not be a barrier to people living full and active lives. Through our services we aim to help people to adjust to living with sight loss, then give them the tools and support to live as independently as they choose.
Our practical services include equipment and advice, either from our centre or direct to the community; a help desk at Bournemouth Hospital, life skills and employment support, transcribing to audio and braille, sight loss training or consultancy for businesses, schools, individuals and manufacturers.
We balance these with emotional support services such as community support workers; volunteers; clubs, activities and events; supporting families and carers.
People are welcome to use as many or as few of our services as they need, and we work in partnership with individuals to empower, build confidence and encourage independence.
